"If he gives it to you, you give it right back."
" Hey, it's 50-50"
" It's my way or the highway buddy!!"
" Like it or leave!."
" Turn the other cheek!!? that's crazy!"
" R-E-S-P-E-C-T find out what it means to me."
"I'm not getting my way, so you're not either."
But I'm learning (slowly) that the Lord has a much different lesson on love for those that will hear. This is foreign to the world and at times even a hard pill to swallow for the saved but it can be done with the Holy Spirit on the inside working this supernatural love in us. It's the same love that endured the cross, that love that reviled not again, that love that took an unimaginable beating and death on the cross for people that hated and despised Him, this kind of love forgives and forgives and forgives again. I can't even express how truly grateful I am for my Savior doing this for me, for my children, for America, for the world.......oh but wait...... yes I can.
God views my gratefulness and true appreciation of His love toward me in how I in turn love others. So I can express my love by how well I love others. Yet, at times I only want to be nice if they are nice to me or only want to speak kindly if they do. We only want to help the thankful, so worried about our feelings, and I believe this society is more and more "easily provoked", which 1 Cor. 13 says charity is not easily provoked. Are we acting any different than sinners who have never seen the light or been redeemed when we act out like this? This passage here in Luke answers that. A true follower should be becoming more and more like him. And " he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. "Luke 6:35b Just something I've talked with the girls about today and thought I'd share it.
Loving God's Way is found in Luke 6:27-36
And even as I read it again, I'm so humbled as I think of people in our lives that have truly loved us with this Christ-like love and the spiritual impact they have had on our lives is unforgettable. This love is real and this love will work. It's God way and His ways are perfect.
27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.
30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
