(I don't think it's any coincidence that I wrote the rough draft to this two days ago and our Pastor preaches on a "Negative Disposition" concerning self-defamation and low self-esteem this evening, so I believe it's fitting to post it now.)
Today a journal entry on "beauty" that really is for my children because I want them to understand now that there is a proper approach to their own beauty and the beauty of others.
To our son:
Before we know it, (...sob...sob) one day we will be having the "girls" talk with you Bobo and one thing we want you to know is.....there is objective beauty and perceived beauty. Ojective beauty is "Yeah she's pretty anybody can see that." And then there's perceived beauty, "Yeah, I've gotten to know her and she's a beautiful person, has a kind heart, loving, fun to be with, loves the Lord." Bro.Wayne Henderson said most people are getting married out of lust these days.....so true. So don't marry because you LUST her but because you LOVE her. And it would be helpful for you to marry someone who has a healthy concept of herself because someone who doesn't, has a hard time sometimes loving anybody else. A women with God-confidence vs. self-confidence.
To our little ladies:
Always remember, you all are "fearfully and wonderfully made."
Psalms 139:14 says
"I will praise thee; because I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works and that my soul knoweth right well." This verse does two things: cripples the high-horse and builds up low-self esteem.
It humbles the high-horse because it's hard to brag on something you had no part in. David said, he would praise "thee", the Lord, not himself. You didn't create or make yourself the Potter did, you didn't paint your canvas the Artist did, so, if complimented, be thankful to God, be gracious and move on.
It builds up the insecure one by reminding them that God's marvelous works are just that, marvelous!! Do we really KNOW right well, that His works are marvelous? They are. We are all miracles. Life is a miracle and God himself has personal interest in each one of His creations.
Like a potter with his clay or an artist with his canvas, every detail left in or left out was planned. You're His masterpiece!! No need to let jealousy show it's ugly head or envy turn you puke green, by this you're really telling the Potter, "I don't like Your work, I'm not appreciative of the assets You've given me (and we all have some) or how You've created me like this and not like that."
So remember children, you're fearfully and wonderfully made, you're His marvelous work and I want you to "know it right well". You need to KNOW and believe this, so you can go out confidently in Him, understanding He's made you for a specific purpose and has fashioned you to be able to fulfill it.
to my four,
I know you love me but...
I love you more :)
