A song in the night.

"There is beauty both in sunrise and sunset, sing of it, and glorify the Lord. Like the nightingale, pour forth thy notes at all hours. Believe that the night is as useful as the day. "
            -Charles Spurgeon

(sorry I took the video down because the pictures of other videos featured on youtube were not wholesome)

"Common Nightingales are named so because they frequently sing at night as well as during the day.... It means 'night songstress'. Early writers assumed the female sang when it is in fact the male. The song is loud, with an impressive range of whistles, trills and gurgles. Its song is particularly noticeable at night because few other birds are singing. This is why its name includes "night" in several languages.....Singing at dawn, during the hour before sunrise, is assumed to be important in defending the bird's territory. Nightingales sing even more loudly in urban or near-urban environments, in order to overcome the background noise......" -Wikipedia

O.k. so I have much to chew on right here.........from the simple fact that no matter the weather, the song is loud but also it's interesting, there are few birds who will sing at night, in the dark, uncertain times. I'm also chewing on this... how their song in the darkest hour is assumed to be very important in defending these birds territory. In addition to this, they sing even louder in urban environments where things are busier and more congested in order to overcome the background noise.....very interesting.
