It is better to have tried and failed then to have failed to try, right? Well, that's the story behind our charts. We have failed and regrouped and failed and tried again and this is the end result, 3 charts and 1 ring and this particular method has been working really well now for over a year.
So, friends and family have asked about our charts, (they see them hanging everywhere in our house) and so briefly I will explain them and also try to link my templates so you can use them if you are interested. Actually, how bout' this? I will tell you how to do it yourself so you can customize it and do it your way. Go to Microsoft Office (in windows 07) go to browse templates and go to chores and chart and pick one you like then start clicking on the blocks and begin imputing what you want and where. That's it!
Ok. So, its quite simple really, each child has the following:
1.An every day "get ready" chart
2.A daily chores chart
3.A one day a week chart
for deeper cleaning and bigger projects.
(Now for the deeper cleaning days,
there is a chart posted in each area of the house that outlines what each room needs. So they go through that and check it off as they clean.)
Alright so the 3 charts, we put them in sheet protectors for two reasons, 1 they will get dirty and torn if you don't and 2 they use dry erase markers to check off their chores as they complete them. We place all three charts on a metal ring so they can flip easy and then hang them in each child's room.
And for those who think we have it all together, I walked around like this (picture below) in the mall for 2 long, embarrassing hours....so the struggle is real, ok! You know what though, when I realized it, I laughed so hard my sides hurt!!! Hey, here's a new saying for ya," if the shoe fits......turn the light on first! "Ha!
At least for those who really know me, well you're not disappointed at all by this event are you :) and you know I really don't want to disappoint you, just keeping it real for ya! Haha!
