I know it goes against our sin nature to praise anything or anyone above ourselves but we are supposed to die to that daily. If we can't compliment our brother or our sister because we are so worried about them getting the "big head" all we are doing is showing that our carnality is alive and well, my friend. Who made us the big head police anyway? I know who, our flesh. Isn't that being a judge of evil thoughts? Why don't we focus on what God
does tell us to do and that's, "Good job sister, wonderful job brother, thank you Pastor!" We've got to encourage each other, esteeming others better
than ourselves, preferring one another over ourselves, oh....guess that rules out competition in the church (and you know I'm not talking about board games). Look, if you're gonna compete with our family we won't be any fun, because God helping us, we are only gonna turn around and try to push you to the finish line first. And shout when you win!! It's a fundamental in our home, we don't believe in competition in the church, it kills unity. And in friendships, if you're always trying to do one better than your friend, you're not too worried about your friends success, are you? We need to lose ourselves behind the cross, lift each other up and don't let anyone drag us into a competition, I refuse to play. There's a real battle out there and Satan would love to get our minds on "keeping up with the -------" you fill the blank, instead of the big picture.
The Charity chapter-
1 Corinthians 13:5"....seeketh not her own.....thinketh no evil."
Have a blessed day, and may we all hug someone's neck and tell them they are doing a great job :)
